Tucson’s Newest Emergency Physician Combines Passion for Medicine with Love for Outdoor Adventures
Dr. Joshua Paree, an esteemed emergency physician and proud alumnus of the University of Arizona College of Medicine, has joined the team at Tucson Medical Center, bringing with him a wealth of enthusiasm and a commitment to serve the community. As a resident of the University Campus Residency program, he graduated in 2024, having already made a significant impact in the field of emergency medicine.
Tucson Medical Center offers a unique environment for emergency medicine professionals, where he hopes to address the needs of the underserved population and make a lasting impact. “The Tucson community presents numerous opportunities to enact real change, and the volume and variety of cases at this program provide an excellent training ground for my future as an emergency physician,” he added.
Originally from Mesa, Arizona, Dr. Paree has developed a strong passion for medical education, pediatrics, social emergency medicine, and wilderness medicine. His journey to the University of Arizona was driven by the exceptional people he encountered throughout the program. “I chose UA EM for the same reason many people do: the people,” Dr. Paree shared. “The individuals I will be trained by and alongside are immensely brilliant and compassionate, making the challenging moments of residency much more manageable and enjoyable.”
Beyond his professional aspirations, he has a deep appreciation for Tucson’s distinctive charm and outdoor lifestyle. “Tucson feels like home,” he remarked. “The slower pace of life, the kindness of the people, and the countless outdoor activities available make it an ideal place for someone who enjoys adrenaline-pumping adventures.”
In addition to his dedication to emergency medicine, Dr. Paree has set several personal goals during his residency, including getting back into rock climbing, learning to mountain bike, and obtaining his SCUBA certification. His diverse interests, from coffee and snowboarding to playing the piano and video games, reflect a well-rounded individual eager to embrace all that life has to offer.
