Get to know Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Amanda Steen, who serves patients in Marshall, Arkansas.

A certified family nurse practitioner, Amanda is the Founder of Taylor Made Health and Wellness, Inc. in Marshall, Arkansas.

Amanda is proud to provide a high-quality level of medical experience, customer service, and commitment to health and wellness to all of her patients. Not only will she treat existing conditions, she will also work to maximize prevention strategies so that patients can live their best lives now.

With deep Searcy County roots, Amanda’s father, Ancil Jones, son of Garvin and Edna (Taylor) Jones, hails from Snowball. Her mother, Katharine LaVerne (Beavers) Jones, daughter of Allen and Janet (Killion) Beavers, hails from Marshall. 

While Amanda grew up in Mountain Home, she spend summers and holidays in Marshall and Snowball with her family and holds fond memories of playing on the farm, fishing in her Papa Beavers’ pond, making mud pies under the hickory tree on the Taylor/Jones homestead, and learning how to cook and bake from her grandmothers. 

At the very early age of 4 years old, Amanda knew she wanted to be a doctor. She would play doctor on her family, and give Sweet Tarts as their medicine. Fast forward 25 years, she gained acceptance to Columbia University in New York City, with plans to attend medical school. Her plans changed radically when she found out that she was pregnant with her oldest daughter. She changed her major from medicine to nursing, and turned down her opportunity to receive an Ivy League education, so that she could be more present as a mother while attending nursing classes. 

Holding many degrees, Amanda has been the recipient of an Associate’s degree in General Science, an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (Registered Nurse) degree, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and a Master of Science in Nursing degree with emphasis in Family Nurse Practitioning.

During her nursing and APRN career, Amanda has specialized in cardiac, women’s health, urgent care, and mental health. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served the states of Arkansas and Indiana as a primary care provider, performing rounds on COVID positive units. 

Among her professional affiliations, she is an active member of the Time for Christ Devotional Leader for Nurse Practitioner Students and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.

A Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) is an advanced practice registered nurse who holds certification and works autonomously or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, to deliver family-focused care. Given the rather broad nature of the “family” patient population focus, FNPs offer a wide range of healthcare services that revolve around the family unit; from health promotion and disease prevention to direct care and counseling across the lifespan.

Married in 2016, John and Amanda (Jones) Steen moved back to John’s family ranch to run their cattle ranch full time in 2017. They have two beautiful daughters, and get to pass on the Southern traditions that have been passed to them through the generations. 

As a family, they enjoy baking, riding four-wheelers, fishing, swimming, exploring, and traveling. They love to share new experiences and new adventures with their children to broaden their horizons.
