Get to know Family Physician Dr. William A. Stevenson, who serves patients throughout the State of Arkansas.

Dr. Stevenson, a board certified family physician, practices at Mercy Family Medicine in Booneville, Arkansas. Affiliated with Mercy Hospital Ozark, Mercy Hospital Paris, Mercy Hospital Waldron, and Mercy Hospital Booneville, he ensures access to quality healthcare for the local community.

Acknowledged by the state of Arkansas for his commitment to compassionate care, Dr. Stevenson prioritizes evidence-based medicine in his practice. He offers a wide array of procedures aimed at keeping patient care localized, with a particular focus on assisting patients in making lifestyle changes to prevent diseases and enhance overall well-being.

Following his medical training at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine, Dr. Stevenson was determined to practice in an underserved and rural area. During his residency, he gained valuable experience working as a hospitalist in various critical access hospitals, including one in Booneville. It was here that he developed a deep connection with the tight-knit community and recognized the pressing need for a dedicated family physician.

As a testament to his success, Dr. Stevenson is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

He is also a member of the American  Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, and Rural Medicine Leader Association.  

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility. 

Outside of work, Dr. Steveson enjoys spending time with his family.

Together, they enjoy visiting Arkansas state parks and walking the trails. He and his wife Analisa have three children who have been found to be growing up far too quickly.
