Dr. Steven Brotman is a Physician/Attorney and has a Medical Degree (MD) from The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NYC and a Juris Doctor (JD) From the University of Maryland School of Law. Dr. Brotman has training in General Surgery and is Board Certified in Pathology.
Additionally, Dr. Brotman has advanced training in autoimmune diseases, immuno-pathology, immuno-hematology, and immuno-dermatology at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He worked as an advocate in Washington, DC in a Medical Device Trade Association fighting for patient's access to cutting-edge technologies and participated in national organizations to help craft health care policies to benefit patients in all areas of care including in-patient care, outpatient care, ambulatory care settings.
Dr. Brotman's wife, after a long bout of autoimmune disease, became catatrophically ill many years ago and subsequently became paraplegic. She was admitted as a hospital inpatient approximately 7 times each year subsequently for very complicated conditions involving, wound care, acute and chronic sepsis, bowel obstruction, pulmonary and other conditions too numerous to list.
It was primarily through these experiences, coupled with his undertanding of the intricacies of health care policy from Washington, DC that Dr. Brotman learned techniques to significantly better navigate the increasingly challenging hospital and medical health care system. Over the past sixteen years, he has applied many of these techniques . . . and a host of newer ones . . . to provide a devoted advocacy to numerous patients and their family in need to make sure that they are not the ones who fall through the cracks of the system.

In his most recent role, Dr. Brotman served as the Medical Director of Medical Affairs at Delfi Diagnostics from May 2022 to November 2022. Prior to this, he held the position of Principal and Founder of Brotman Consulting: Pharma & Medical Affairs from September 2019 to July 2022. During this period, he offered his extensive knowledge to large, mid-size, and start-up pharmaceutical/device/biologic companies, specializing in all aspects of medical affairs, including the development of clinical operations for strategic clinical initiatives.
With an impressive educational background, Dr. Brotman earned his Medical Degree and completed his residency in pathology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 1987 and 1992, respectively. Expanding his knowledge further, he pursued studies at The Johns Hopkins University Medical Center from 1992 to 1995, focusing on immuno-pathology, immuno-dermatology, and immuno-hematology.
After completing his medical training, Dr. Brotman turned his attention to the legal domain, earning a Doctor of Law (J.D.) Degree from the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law in 1998.
An expert in his field, the doctor is board certified in anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABPath). The mission of the ABPath is to promote the health of the public and advance the practice and science of pathology by establishing voluntary certification standards and assessing the qualifications of those seeking to practice the specialty of pathology.
The foundation of Dr. Brotman’s career in regulatory law was laid during his time as a Senior Regulatory Attorney at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals from June 2004 to April 2007. Prior to that, he refined his legal skills as an Associate specializing in FDA Regulatory Law and Healthcare Law at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP from April 2002 to June 2004.
His extensive journey in healthcare leadership traces back to his position as the Senior Vice President of Payment and Health Care Delivery Policy at AdvaMed, a prominent medical device trade association, where he served from June 2009 to August 2019. Throughout this period, Dr. Brotman showcased exemplary leadership by representing the organization in various forums and cultivating relationships with key stakeholders across academia, clinical institutions, advocacy groups, and guideline organizations.
After enduring a prolonged battle with autoimmune disease, Dr. Brotman’s wife fell critically ill several years ago, ultimately leading to her becoming paraplegic. Subsequently, she found herself admitted to the hospital approximately seven times each year, grappling with complex conditions such as wound care, acute and chronic sepsis, bowel obstruction, and various pulmonary issues, among others.
Through these challenging experiences and his comprehension of healthcare policy intricacies from Washington, D.C., Dr. Brotman acquired valuable techniques to adeptly navigate the increasingly complex hospital and medical healthcare system.
