About

About me
Hello, my name is Maria Fernanda Antunez, and I’m a bilingual Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of experience in healthcare. I specialize in mental health and have a deep passion for helping adults manage their mental well-being.

Currently, I work with Grow Therapy and Florida Personal Management, providing both in-person and Telehealth services. My focus is on evaluating, diagnosing, and treating adults experiencing behavioral health issues. I also handle medication management and work closely with counselors and therapists to ensure holistic care.

In my roles, I prioritize timely responses and ensure that all assessments and progress notes are completed accurately. My approach is always patient-centered, and I am committed to making each visit as helpful and comforting as possible.

Previously, I worked at Mind and Soul Therapy, where I provided care for adults dealing with depression and anxiety. Additionally, I served as a Registered Nurse for 6 years, caring for critically ill patients and supporting them through various procedures.

I’m dedicated to providing compassionate care and helping my patients navigate their mental health journey. If you need support, I am here to help.

Practice description
As a PMHNP, I firmly believe that the best treatment method to understand and care for my patients is through a comprehensive and individualized evaluation process. By delving into their medical history, social history, and current mental status, I am able to gain a deeper understanding of their unique needs, preferences, and circumstances. This allows me to create an individualized treatment plan tailored specifically to each patient, ensuring that they receive the care and support that is most beneficial to them. In addition to medication management, I always consider integrating therapy sessions for a more holistic approach to treatment. I may refer patients to psychotherapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to further support their mental health needs.

Treatment philosophy
Here's how I approach treatment:
* Building Rapport: Establishing trust and a therapeutic relationship with patients is crucial. I prioritize active listening and empathy.

* Individualized Care Plans: Each patient is unique. Tailoring treatment plans to fit individual needs, preferences, and goals is essential.
* Medications: Prescribe psychotropic medications when necessary, ensuring patients are fully informed about benefits, side effects, and alternatives.
* Therapy: Offer or refer to psychotherapy and other therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

I believe in patient empowerment,  believing that informed, engaged patients are key to success treatment outcomes.
