Get to know Clinical Pharmacist Sarah Mahmood, who serves patients in Illinois.

Sarah is a clinical pharmacist licensed in the states of Illinois & Virginia. An enthusiastic entrepreneur, she is the Founder of a thriving pharmacy study guide business known as PharmacyGuides, LLC.

Combining her comprehensive clinical knowledge, administrative experience, and entrepreneurial spirit, Sarah is dedicated to positively impacting the field of pharmacy and the education of aspiring pharmacists, while delivering exceptional healthcare outcomes.

Her therapeutic competencies include chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia), psychiatry, cardiology, neurology, oncology, and infectious diseases.

With a solid foundation in healthcare, Sarah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Virginia Tech in 2016 and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2022. 

With a year of experience as a clinical pharmacist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and nearly a decade of loyal service at Inova Health System, Sarah has gained valuable insights and skills through various roles, ranging from administrative to clinical positions. 

A registered pharmacist through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and Virginia Board of Pharmacy, she holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (CPR and AED), The Pharmacist & Patient-Centered Diabetes Care, and Mental Health First Aid.

Throughout her career, Sarah has cultivated a strong work ethic, adaptability, and a passion for patient care. 

Pharmacy is the health science that links medical science with chemistry and it is charged with the discovery, production, control, disposal, safe and effective use of drugs. The practice of pharmacy requires excellent knowledge of drugs, their mechanism of action, side effects, interactions, mobility, and toxicity. Pharmacists, also known as chemists or druggists, are health professionals who specialize in the use of medicines, as they deal with the composition, effects, mechanism of action, and proper and effective use of drugs.

On a more personal note, Sarah speaks both English and Urdu.
