Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Grace Elizabeth Hsiung, who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.

A skilled general surgeon, Dr. Hsiung is affiliated with General Surgical Associates, serving patients in San Antonio and Boerne, Texas. Her clinical interests include minimally-invasive surgery, robotic surgery, hernia repair, foregut surgery, biliary tract disease, and colorectal disease.

With more than 40 years in existence, General Surgical Associates have a long history of providing comprehensive, top quality care to all of their patients. Their experienced general surgery team formulates a treatment plan that is tailored to each of their patients’ conditions and needs. They educate their patients on all of their options and address any questions or concerns they may have. In order to ensure that a patient is receiving the best care possible, they maintain contact with the primary care physician and other necessary specialists.

Born in Washington, DC and raised in Potomac, Maryland, Dr. Hsiung graduated from Winston Churchill High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Plan II Liberal Arts Program from the University of Texas at Austin. She then went on to receive her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, before completing an internship and residency in general surgery at the same educational venue.

Board eligible by the American Board of Surgery, she is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, the Texas Medical Association, the Bexar County Medical Association, and the Association of Women Surgeons.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and other body systems. A general surgeon performs a wide range of surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and biliary disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.

When she is not tending to patients, Dr. Hsiung enjoys 3D puzzles, bicycling, geocaches, and spending time with her niece and nephew.
