Hello, I'm Rachelle C. De La Cruz, and I'm passionate about providing compassionate mental health care to children, adolescents, and young adults. With over 12 years of experience in nursing, I've dedicated my career to ensuring patients receive excellent, holistic and evidence based care.
As a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I specialize in diagnosing and managing mental health conditions. I work with families to help them understand diagnoses and treatment options. My approach is personalized and focused on achieving the best outcomes for my patients.
My professional journey includes roles in clinical settings, nursing education, and leadership. I have expanded my skills through various positions throughout the Western New York Veteran healthcare system and currently serve at BestSelf Behavioral Health.
Education is important to me, and I hold a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Nursing Education, hold a Post Masters Certification as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry. As well as several certifications that enable me to provide advanced psychiatric care. I continue to update my knowledge with certifications in pediatric mental health and nicotine treatment. Born in Jamaica, and raised by Caribbean parents in a multigenerational house, I have a unique understanding of cultural sensitivity and competence.
I believe in transparent communication and a team-based approach to mental healthcare. My goal is to provide safe, effective, and comforting support to all my patients. Regardless of what may be seen as obstacles, the development of an individualized treatment plan can lead to a a happy fulfilled life. Mental health is a journey not a destination. As a compassionate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, my approach is centered on the unique needs of each patient. I believe in treating not just symptoms, but the whole person. Building relationships based on trust and understanding is key. I engage with both children and young adults, providing education and support to empower them and their families. I aim to create a safe space for open dialogue about mental health. I utilize evidence-based practices to deliver tailored care and ensure consistent monitoring of treatment progress. My goal is to foster healing and resilience, guiding each patient on their journey towards mental wellness with empathy and dedication.
