Get to know Internist Dr. Genibert Perez-Puelles, who serves patients in Florida.

A professional in the field of internal medicine and hospital medicine, Dr. Perez-Puelles has been affiliated with Baptist Health South Florida since July of 2015. Namely, he is a part of the following programs at Baptist Hospital of Miami & West Kendall Baptist Hospital: BHM Hospitalist Medicine Program (Miami), Dh Hospitalist Medicine Program (Coral Gables), and WKBH Hospitalist Medicine Program (Miami).

Baptist Health South Florida is a faith-based, not-for-profit healthcare organization and clinical care network in southern Florida. It operates seven hospitals, about fifty outpatient and urgent care centers, as well as several community health and outreach programs. The mission of Baptist Health is “to improve the health and well-being of individuals, and to promote the sanctity and preservation of life, in the communities we serve.”

At the start of his academic career, Dr. Perez-Puelles obtained his medical degree from Havana Higher Institute of Medical Sciences in 1995. Many years later, in 2015, he completed his residency in internal medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Ohio.

That same year, he attained board certification in internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They manage and prevent common and complex diseases by providing comprehensive care and promoting overall well-being.

Among Dr. Perez-Puelles’ various accolades include Patients’ Choice Award (2020), On-Time Doctor Award (2020), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2020). 

On a more personal note, he speaks both English and Spanish.
