A California-based neurosurgeon, Dr. Chavakula is affiliated with Neurosurgical Medical Clinic, seeing patients in the San Diego and La Mesa areas. His interests lie in the realm of understanding the neural basis for three-dimensional motion and complex hand movements for application in real-time control of robotic prosthetic limbs. He specializes in functional neurosurgery, including MR- guided Focused Ultrasound and Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS).

Educated in the United States, Dr. Chavakula received his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Electrical Engineering and Biology from the California Institute of Technology in 2008. He graduated cum laude with his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 2012, and completed his residency in neurosurgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard in June 2020.

Board-eligible through the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, the doctor has admitting privileges at Sharp Memorial Hospital, Sharp Grossmont Hospital, Sharp Chula Vista, and Scripps Mercy Hospital. He also provides Focused Ultrasound procedures at Memorial Care Orange Coast Medical Center in Fountain Valley.
