The Kaiser Permanente Main Street Health Pavilion mainly provides outpatient addiction treatment. They work with a wonderful team of counselors and therapists and take a team approach to treating members with addiction. They use medication-assisted therapy with medications such as buprenorphine and naltrexone to treat various drug and alcohol addiction.
Raised in Los Angeles, Dr. Gu obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, San Diego, and graduated with her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. She then went on to complete the Sunrise Health GME Consortium/Southern Hills Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she was introduced to the field of addiction medicine, and was immediately drawn to it.
Deciding to follow her passion, she applied to specialize in addiction medicine, and moved to New York City for her fellowship at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. During her fellowship, she was able to fully devote her time and energy in treating patients with addiction. After graduation, she moved back to Los Angeles and joined the Kaiser Permanente team in Carson.
Professionally, Dr. Gu is an active member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the California Society of Addiction Medicine, the American Academy of Family Physicians.
