Get to know Pediatric Neurologist Dr. Sara Rubenstein, who serves patients in Hackensack, New Jersey.

Dr. Rubenstein, a board-certified pediatric neurologist, is dedicated to patient and family-centered care, and believes in the importance of a team-approach to treatment. She is currently affiliated with Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey.

“My passion is to provide high quality care to children and their families while building long-term relationships. Neurological conditions in children are often complex and require a multidisciplinary approach. Our entire team is dedicated to our patients and their families, their treatment, and supporting them throughout their journey” expressed the doctor. 

A native to New Jersey, Dr. Rubenstein graduated with her medical degree from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in 2016. She then relocated to the United States, performing her residency in pediatrics and her fellowship in pediatric neurology at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 2016 and 2021, respectively. 

Following her education, she attained board certification in neurology and child neurology through the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology. 

As a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Neurology and the Child Neurology Society, Dr. Rubenstein is keenly interested in current neurological research. Most recently, she published in Stroke and Vascular Neurology for her COVID-related study of stroke in children.

Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system. A child neurologist, or pediatric neurologist, is a doctor who treats children who have problems with their nervous system. Problems in the nervous system can start in the brain, spine, nerves, or muscles. These can lead to problems such as seizures, headaches, or developmental delays.
