Get to know Urologist Dr. Laith Alzweri, who serves patients throughout the State of Texas.

An exceptional urologist, Dr. Alzweri is the Director of Men’s Health and Male Reconstruction, Assistant Professor of Urology and Associate Director of the Urology Residency Program within the Department of Surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch. 

Dr. Alzweri received his medical degree from the Jordan University of Science and Technology School of Medicine in 2006, before relocating to the United Kingdom. There, he completed his internship at James Cook University Hospital, followed by a residency in general surgery at Wales Deanery Hospitals, and a residency in urology at West Midlands Deanery Hospitals.

Thereafter, he relocated to the United States and completed three consecutive fellowships: a sexual medicine and reconstructive genitourinary surgery fellowship at the Brady Urological Institute, at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine; an andrology and prosthetic urology fellowship at the Tulane University Medical Centre; and a endourology and robotics fellowship at the same educational venue.

Dr Alzweri has authored several publications in the fields of sexual medicine and andrology. Recognized as a Fellow of the European College of Sexual Medicine (FECSM), Dr Alzweri is also an active member of the American Urological Association, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the Society of Sexual Medicine North America, and the International Society of Sexual Medicine.

His clinical excellence includes establishing the UTMB Angleton-Danbury Campus as the first hospital to provide thulium laser ablation of the prostate ( day procedure) in Brazoria County in May 2020, designated as a Center of Excellence for penile implants in February 2022, performed complex infertility microscopic procedures, and established the only comprehensive ­Men’s Health Clinic-outside of the Texas Medical Center and the first at UTMB. He was also nominated twice as the UTMB Academy of Master Clinicians “ clinician of the Month” for Oct 2021 and Jan 2023, in addition to being formally inducted as a member in Nov 2022. Clinicians selected for this  award demonstrate a high level of skills, experience and compassion for patients.
