Get to know Family Nurse Practitioner & Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Lawrence Abah, who serves patients in Aurora, Illinois.

Lawrence is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner. He is the CEO of Holistic Behavioral & TMS Therapy in Aurora, Illinois, where he has full practice authority. 

An experienced behavioral health specialist, Lawrence evaluates the medical, nutritional, hormonal, and environmental causes of his patients’ symptoms, creating plans that achieve maximum symptom reduction with the lowest effective medication dose. He provides high quality, patient-focused care that is judgment-free and based on modern behavioral science.

After completing his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at Northern Illinois University, Lawrence went on to earn his Master of Science degree to be a family nurse practitioner at Governors State University in University Park, Illinois. He continued his education to assist patients as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, earning his Master of Science degree at Northern Kentucky University (NKU) in Highland Heights.

With a strong nursing background that makes him an effective and reliable care provider, Lawrence graduated with his Doctorate in Nursing Practice degree from NKU in May of 2023.

A Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specializes in the primary and specialty care of patients of all ages. In general, FNPs focus on preventive care, monitoring their long-term health, and assisting physicians with any issues that might arise.

A Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice nurse seeking to improve mental health care and the overall health status of communities. PMHNPs provide a full range of primary mental health care services, including biopsychosocial assessment and diagnosis of patients with mental illness and co-occurring disorders. Treatment modalities include both medication and psychotherapeutic management.
