Get to know Vascular Surgeon Dr. Scott Bendix, who serves patients throughout the State of Michigan.

Dr. Bendix is a vascular surgeon with Premier Vascular Associates, seeing patients at Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe and Ascension St. John Hospital, Detroit.

The doctor specializes in both open and endovascular surgery. His special interests include minimally-invasive endovascular procedures, peripheral arterial disease, carotid disease, venous disease and varicose veins, aortic aneurysms, and hemodialysis access. He also enjoys resident and medical student teaching.

A native of West Bloomfield, Michigan, Dr. Bendix attended the University of Michigan for his undergraduate degree and Wayne State University for his medical degree. He completed a surgical internship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and completed his residency in general surgery at Providence-Providence Park Hospital. He then completed his specialty training in vascular surgery at Henry Ford Hospital.

As a testament to his success, the doctor is board-certified in both vascular surgery and general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system, including the arteries, veins, and lymphatic circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. A vascular surgeon diagnoses, treats, and manages conditions in the arteries and veins, also called the blood vessels. These specialists treat a range of health problems, from spider and varicose veins to life-threatening aneurysms, and can help patients manage chronic conditions throughout their lives.

On a more personal note, Dr. Bendix enjoys golf, tennis, and spending time outdoors.
