  • Is a dental implant better than a bridge?

The answer to that depends on the patient based on the conditions of their teeth to be part of the bridge.Like the space to be covered, the conditions of the bone and how fast they want to replace the missing teeth. For example a patient who does need crown on the teeth next to the missing tooth and wants to get the missing tooth replace as  soon as possible maybe the best option will be doing bridge since the teeth next to the space need crowns anyway vs a patient whose teeth next to the missing tooth are in good condition and have the right space and bone for dental implants then implant will be the best treatment option. At the end all the treatment options should be presented to the patient and will decide based on their situation. • Are you put to sleep for a tooth extraction?

Thanks for your question. For anyone is no fun to have a tooth extracted and could be very scary but the answer is no. There is no need to be sedated or under to have a tooth pulled. Most of the time just local anesthesia will do but for fearful patients, another easy option is provided by any dental office which is nitrous oxide aka laughing gas, which will help the patient to be calm and tolerate the procedure better without losing consciousness. • Can a crown cause gum pain?

Hello, thanks for your question. Is very common to have gum sensitivity after getting a crown. The reason for it is the majority of the time in order to take a good model of your tooth to send to a lab to get your crown created we have to push your gums a little bit away from your tooth to have the most accurate impression. Also during the time you are having the temporary crown is very easy to have some inflammation of the gums. Make sure to floss and do some rinses with 1 tbsp of sea salt in 8oz of water twice a day, that should help until getting the permanent crown or even after if the case. For any persistent discomfort please call your Dentist for a follow-up. I hope I was able to help with your concern. READ MORE
