In his current capacity, he serves as the Chief of Cardiac Surgery & Surgical Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support at the Heart & Vascular Hospital at Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack University Medical Center. He is also affiliated with Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Medical Center. 

Hackensack Meridian Health Hackensack University Medical Center is a 770-bed non-profit, research and teaching hospital located seven miles west of New York City, in Hackensack, Bergen County, New Jersey. It provides tertiary and healthcare needs for northern New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area.

John F. Kennedy Medical Center, an affiliate of Hackensack Meridian Health, is a 499 bed full-service, acute care hospital, and the home of the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute. A 1997 graduate of St. George’s University School of Medicine, Dr. Batsides went on to complete his internship in general surgery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in 1998. Years later, he served his residency in general surgery and his fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at the same educational venue in 2002 and 2006, respectively. 

In part from a long-standing history of heart disease in his own family, he pursued his dream of becoming a physician, specializing in the cardiothoracic field. He embraces the opportunity to collaborate with fellow physicians and team members to further invigorate his field and provide the very best care.

Named a 2020 Top Doctor in Bergen Magazine, Dr. Batsides is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge. 

Furthermore, he is board-certified in cardiac and thoracic surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery,  an American surgical organization devoted to surgery of the chest.

In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Dr. Batsides is a member of the American College of Cardiology (Fellow), the International Society of Heart & Lung Transplantation, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, and the American Medical Association. He also lectures nationally and internationally on topics of cardiogenic shock and diseases of the aorta.
