Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Dhan Kaushal, who serves patients in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A well-known hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Kaushal is affiliated with Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada, where he treats patients with cancer and serious blood disorders. His patient philosophy is to focus on the treatment to extend a patient’s quality of life.

The Central Valley Treatment Center of Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada offers medical oncology, hematology, radiation oncology and cancer genetic counseling services to patients with cancer and serious blood disorders. Prior to joining Comprehensive, Dr. Kaushal was an oncologist at Cancer & Blood Specialists of Nevada and previously practiced at Cancer & Hematology Center of Nevada. 

Practicing medicine in Las Vegas since 1996, he is affiliated with Centennial Hills Hospital Medical Center, Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center, MountainView Hospital, Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center, Spring Valley Hospital Medical Center, Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, Valley Hospital Medical Center, St. Rose Dominican Hospitals – San Martin Campus, St. Rose Dominical Hospitals – Rose de Lima Campus, and North Vista Hospital.

Regarding his educational background, Dr. Kaushal attended Punjabi University Government Medical College in India and received his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree. After relocating to the United States, he went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at West Suburban Medical Center and his fellowship in hematology-oncology at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago.

A member of the Clark County Medical Society, he is board-certified in medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.

On a more personal note, Dr. Kaushal enjoys a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise. He is fluent in English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu.
