Dr. Omair Ali is a comprehensive ophthalmologist at Pannu Laser and Vision Institute. He graduated with Honors from Indiana University – Bloomington in 2010. Dr. Ali then completed his Master’s in Medical Sciences at Boston University. Following this, Dr. Ali spent a year in research at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School. He then went on to graduate from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine with Honors in 2016. Dr. Ali completed his ophthalmology residency from Louisiana State University in 2020 where he was the Chief Resident and then went on to complete a fellowship at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Academic Global Ophthalmology. During this year he taught residents and performed surgeries in Rwanda, Burundi and Ghana. Dr. Ali has done surgical outreach trips in Guatemala, Pakistan and India, and has set up community eye clinics in Philadelphia, Arkansas and Louisiana. Dr. Ali is passionate about giving the gift of vision to underserved communities both abroad and at home.
Dr. Ali has published papers in peer-reviewed journals, presented projects at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and the College of Ophthalmology of Eastern Central and Southern Africa.
Dr. Ali is excited to bring his love for community health to South Florida. Whether it’s glasses, diabetic exams, glaucoma or cataracts, Dr. Ali is here to help. He performs regular, complex and laser-assisted cataract surgeries with implantation of regular monofocal lenses and a variety of cutting-edge multifocal lenses. He also performs pterygium excision, micro-incisional glaucoma surgeries and a variety of in-clinic procedures, like glaucoma laser, lesion removals and Botox injections.
