Dr. Mancera is an accomplished ophthalmologist with a strong background in oculoplastics, eyelid surgery, and aesthetic rejuvenation. He is currently affiliated with Florida Eye Specialists & Cataract Institute, working with patients at their Brandon, Plant City, and Sun City Center locations.
Founded in 1981, Florida Eye Specialists and Cataract Institute originated as a standalone clinic and grew to 8, with locations in Brandon, Lake Wales, Plant City, Riverview, Ruskin, South Tampa, St. Petersburg and Sun City Center. In 2017, the company rebranded as Florida Eye Specialists and Cataract Institute and has continued to provide the highest quality of eye care.
Born in New York City, Dr. Mancera moved to South Florida at a young age, where he attended Nova Southeastern University for college. During his time, he excelled academically and was heavily involved in the premedical society, ultimately graduating at the top of his class and receiving the James Farquhar Award, all while being a full-time martial arts instructor.
Subsequently, he received his medical degree from the University of South Florida, where he served as the president of his class and became deeply involved in international medicine, completing an exchange program in Tropical Medicine in Colombia. After completing his internship in general surgery at the University of South Florida, he went on to complete a residency in ophthalmology at the same establishment, during which he served as the Chief Resident and the chair of the Resident Advisory Committee.
Finally, Dr. Mancera pursued a highly competitive two-year fellowship in oculofacial plastic surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he gained expertise in the medical and surgical treatment of eyelid and tear duct disorders, skin cancer reconstruction, orbital tumors, facial/orbital trauma, and cosmetic surgery of the face and neck, as well as less invasive aesthetic rejuvenation techniques.
As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.
Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. Ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and may perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.
In his free time, Dr. Mancera enjoys traveling, spending time with his family, and practicing martial arts, in which he holds a fourth degree Black Belt and has received numerous awards and accolades. He is also fluent in Spanish and is dedicated to providing top quality care to patients of all ages.
