Prime Surgicare proudly announces Dr. Oluseun A. Sowemimo, affectionately known as Dr. Seun, a board-certified and fellowship-trained bariatric surgeon, who is making significant strides in the field of weight loss surgery in New Jersey. With a focus on minimally-invasive laparoscopic techniques and advocacy for practical and scientifically based nutrition, he specializes in helping patients achieve their weight loss goals safely and effectively.

With offices and hernia centers located in Freehold, Jackson, Old Bridge, and Toms River NJ, Dr. Seun is the Medical Director for Bariatric Surgery at CentraState Medical Center, recognized as a Bariatric Center of Excellence. He is also a partner at Central Jersey Bariatrics, where his commitment to patient care is unmatched.

In regard to his educational background, he completed a surgical fellowship in advanced minimally invasive, robotic, and open bariatric surgery at the prestigious Yale University School of Medicine. His general surgery internship and residency were completed at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, and Harlem Hospital Center, where he proudly served as Chief Resident from 2004 to 2005. His international experience includes clinical clerkships at Kings College Hospital in London and surgical training at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

In addition to his vast clinical experience, Dr. Seun is actively involved in numerous professional healthcare organizations, including the American Medical Association (AMA), Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and the American College of Surgeons. His contributions to the field have been recognized through appearances on major television platforms, including Dr. Oz, CBS, NY1, and News 12 NJ.

As a second-generation surgeon, he embodies the ethos of “primum non nocere” (first, do no harm), a principle instilled in him by his father. This guiding value ensures that every patient receives the highest quality of care. With advanced training from leading institutions, Dr. Seun ensures that each weight loss procedure—whether gastric sleeve or gastric bypass—is performed with the utmost safety and precision.

Currently pursuing an Executive MBA and Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership at Cornell University, Dr. Seun combines clinical expertise with strategic healthcare insights. His dedication to personalized care allows him to tailor each surgical option to the unique needs of his patients, promoting effective and long-term health benefits.
