Bringing Comprehensive Care and Expertise in Rheumatic Diseases to Long Island Patients

Dr. Daniel Torres Leyva, a highly skilled rheumatologist, has been a part of the esteemed team at Rheumatology Associates of Long Island, LLP since July 2019. He attends to patients at the Melville, Smithtown, and Port Jefferson Station offices, offering cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment solutions for various rheumatic conditions. Dr. Leyva is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine - Rheumatology at Stony Brook University  Hospital  where he sees patients and also trains the Rheumatology fellows. 

With a deep-rooted commitment to the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of rheumatic diseases, Dr. Leyva employs the latest advancements in diagnostic testing and treatment modalities to deliver compassionate and comprehensive care to individuals grappling with ailments affecting muscles, joints, and bones. His patient-centric approach and unwavering dedication make him a valuable asset to the Long Island community.

A native of Puerto Rico, Dr. Leyva earned his Medical Degree from Ross University School of Medicine in 2014. He completed his residency at NYU Langone Hospital – Brooklyn and furthered his expertise through fellowship training at Yale School of Medicine. 

Board certified in internal medicine and rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Leyva is a proud member of prestigious medical organizations including the American College of Physicians, and the American College of Rheumatology.

His keen interest in spondyloarthritis has fueled his ongoing research endeavors. Currently, Dr. Leyva is engaged in a literature review focusing on inflammatory back pain, alongside a quality improvement project aimed at enhancing shared decision-making practices between physicians and patients. His passion for advancing the field of rheumatology is evident in his commitment to research and patient care excellence.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Dr. Leyva is fluent in both English and Spanish, ensuring effective communication and rapport with a diverse range of patients. His multilingual proficiency further underscores his dedication to providing inclusive and accessible healthcare services to all individuals in need.
