Joshua Lentz, MD, MS, MPH, is a certified family practice physician who runs Anderson Medical Group and provides emergency medical services at Touchette Regional Hospital and Staunton Community Hospital. Dr. Lentz has also been an ER Physician for the last year, working on the front lines saving people's lives at multiple ER facilities in Illinois. He specializes in the fields of family and emergency medicine. Dr. Lentz began his academic journey at Community College of the Air Force, where he obtained an Associate of Science degree in Physical Therapy Technician/Assistant in 2008. He then pursued his undergraduate studies in Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Florida, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 2010. Continuing his education, he completed a Master of Science degree in Medical Clinical Sciences/Graduate Medical Studies at the same institution in 2012. Dr. Lentz further expanded his knowledge by obtaining a Master of Public Health degree from the American Public University System in the same year. In 2015, he achieved a Doctorate in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from Capella University. Finally, he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Ross University School of Medicine in 2018.
Before attending medical school, Dr. Lentz served as a medic in the United States Air Force. During this time, he pursued various degrees and later worked as a college professor for 4-5 years, starting at the age of 24. Dr. Lentz is a member of esteemed organizations such as the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Family Physicians. He actively mentors residents specializing in family medicine and emergency medicine, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and family medicine residents. In addition, he has been serving as a physician in the Reserves of the United States Army for the past year. When asked about the key factors contributing to his success, Dr. Lentz attributes it to his experience in the Air Force. He explains, "When I joined the Air Force, they assigned me to be a medic which gave me a love for medicine. The Air Force also taught me to become a hard worker and to have perseverance, all of those things paved the way to my medical school attendance and ultimately being successful as a physician."
