Get to know Dentist Dr. Michael Hodgson, who serves patients throughout the State of Ohio.
A skilled dentist, Dr. Hodgson is affiliated with Hylan Dental Care, working with patients at their offices in Brecksville, Cleveland, and Fairview Park, Ohio. His main focus is providing patients with a non-judgemental, stress free environment where they can be honest about their goals and needs, and helping them to achieve those goals together. His favorite aspect of the job is helping anxious patients overcome their fears to establish the dream smile they thought was unachievable.
“I love working with my hands, but more importantly, I love working with people. I love listening to the stories of my patients, understanding their backgrounds and goals, and working as a team to achieve a common goal. Whether through pain relief or cosmetic improvements, listening to my patients and allowing them to achieve their desired outcome is the main driver behind my passion for dentistry” expressed the doctor.
With a holistic healthcare philosophy, Dr. Hodgson’s goal is to address the upstream problem resulting in the downstream outcome. He assesses the patient as a whole, and implements strategies to improve total body health. One example of this is painless injections. Pain and stress increases stress hormones in the body, which impair healing after the procedure. By providing a painless and stress free experience, the patient is likely to have faster healing and overall better treatment outcomes.
A native of Oakville, Ontario in Canada, he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Queen’s University in 2015, and his Master of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario in 2017. He graduated with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2021, and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honors Society.
Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
When he is not in the office, Dr. Hodgson enjoys exercise and the outdoors, and spends the majority of his off-time running trails, or working out. When he is not exercising, he likes sitting outside and listening to a wide variety of music. He is an avid sports fan, especially Canadian hockey and baseball, and is a huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. He also enjoys playing these sports recreationally, as well as golfing. He is fluent in both English and French.
