Born and raised in Bloomington, Illinois, she studied at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, and received her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry degree from the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. On a more personal note, Dr. Markwood has two golden retrievers. She enjoys taking them on walks, participating in agility, and taking her therapy certified dog to nursing homes.
