  • How can I stop acid reflux instantly?

It is important to change your diet. Avoid fatty foods, caffeine, chocolate, spicy foods, food with high fat content, carbonated beverages, and peppermint. Make these lifestyle modifications: weight loss, elevation of the head of the bed, refraining from assuming a supine position after meals and avoidance of meals two to three hours before bedtime. Talk to your primary care physician about reflux medications if symptoms don't improve with changes in weight loss and diet. READ MORE

  • How do psychiatrists help with obesity?

Adolescents with obesity experience bias and bullying from their peers; many, particularly females, develop a negative self-image that persists into adulthood. Overweight children and adolescents may engage in unhealthy eating behaviors in an attempt to lose weight. It is important to promote healthy eating habits without prompting or worsening an eating disorder, and care should be taken to minimize this risk through counseling that supports a positive body image and healthy eating patterns. The goal of behavioral therapy is to help patients(of any age group) make long-term changes in their eating behavior by modifying and monitoring their food intake, modifying their physical activity, and controlling cues and stimuli in the environment that trigger eating.
