  • Will I get a brace after ankle surgery?

Every surgeon provides different guidance for their post operative care and every patient surgery is unique. However, for most of my patients following an ankle surgery I will be placing them in either a cast, splint, boot, or brace following the procedure depending all that took place during the operation. Hope this helps! -Dr. Trent Brookshier Dr. Trent Brookshier Podiatric Medicine / Surgery North Park Podiatry 3989 32nd Street San Diego, CA READ MORE

  • Would it be best to go through the laser therapy sessions or find a different doctor

Every patient / pathology is slightly different. If not seeing the improvement you want I would always get a second opinion before jumping into a surgery. There are multiple different conservative / non-surgical options that can be tried before surgery and every doctor has a slightly different approach to the art of medicine and healing. • Is swollen feet and ankles a serious condtion?

Swollen feet can be a sign of a serious condition which is why it is important to have a thorough evaluation by a podiatric physician. It could be due to a vascular condition such as peripheral vascular disease. It is better to detect these pathologies early because they can be progressive and may be harder to reverse as time goes on. Trent Brookshier DPM READ MORE

  • Discolored toe

The nail color and texture can be an indication of infection or systemic disease. It is a good idea to have a podiatric physician take a look so they can help diagnose and treat the problem. Hard to say from the photo, but if there was any question in person I would biopsy it. That's what I do in my clinic. READ MORE
