Born in Los Angeles, California, Dr. Covell spent time outside of California getting her undergraduate education at Cornell University. She then returned to complete her acute stroke research at UCLA, and received her medical degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Finally, she completed her residency in neurology at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona.
Following her training, the doctor attained board certification in neurology through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
Neurology is a branch of medicine dealing with disorders of the nervous system.
