Dr. Elmann is an award-winning board-certified ophthalmologist with a subspecialty in medical and surgical retinal disease. He currently works with patients at his private practice – Clarity Eye Care – in Brooklyn, New York. He also serves as an Assistant Professor in the Ophthalmology Residency Program at St. John’s University.

Throughout his academic career, he earned his medical degree with the accelerated BA-MD program at SUNY Downstate, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He continued with a residency in ophthalmology at SUNY, where he was elected Chief Resident and received the EC Lazzaro Excellence in Teaching Award. He then completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery under the mentorship of internationally renowned Dr. Bert M. Glaser at the National Retina Institute. He was also awarded the Endowed Honor Award, and inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society.

Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

In order to remain up to date in his field, Dr. Elmann is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retinal Specialists, the LIGHT Laser Society, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

A keen researcher, his research interests include therapeutics in the treatment of retina disease, laser photocoagulation therapy, and diabetic retinal disease. He has presented his findings nationally and internationally, and has authored numerous abstracts, papers, and publications.
