Deana Flynn is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, MSN, PMHNP-BC licensed by the State of North Carolina and Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Deana has over a decade of experience delivering effective, safe, and compassionate care to people of all backgrounds, beliefs, and life journeys. She has worked in several care settings including inpatient hospital, outpatient clinic, crisis stabilization units and emergency departments.
Deana’s philosophy is that optimal wellness is patient centered and focuses on whole person wellbeing. She provides multifaceted care that is evidence-based and combines traditional psychotherapy and medication management approaches with complementary and alternative practices for total wellness. Deana encourages healthy lifestyle choices, regular exercise, mindful eating, in combination with therapy and – when necessary – evidence-based medication support.
Deana’s education was received at East Tennessee State University where she completed her Master’s in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Her undergraduate work was completed at Fayetteville State University with her initial nursing education received locally at Robeson Community College. She maintains membership in professional organizations that support continued learning and professional development including the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, and the Council of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurses within the North Carolina Nurses Association and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She is an advisory alumni member on the College of Nursing Curriculum Development Committee of East Tennessee State University. Deana is currently working toward a certification in Integrative Behavioral Health to support her holistic patient care practices and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nurse Practitioner (DNP) degree.
