What pain medications are effective for hip joint pain?
Depending on the cause of the hip pain there are various approaches to treatment. Medications can be helpful at times but other therapies including injections, physical therapy and sometimes even therapy may be indicated. Recommendations for the most optimal medication depends on the cause of the pain, a patient’s co-existing medical problems, allergies, and contraindications to certain medications. My daughter has chronic pain. What should I do?
I’m sorry to hear your daughter has been dealing with pain for so long. There are so many reasons why pain can exist or persist, even if there isn’t an identifiable trigger. The best way to approach these situations is to visit a qualified Pain Management physician who can gather a full history, perform a physical exam and continue the work up with either more tests, a referral to a more appropriate specialist, or make recommendations for treatment. Pertaining to his educational pursuits, Dr. Omar received his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the prestigious Boston University and then went on to complete an ACGME accredited fellowship in Interventional Pain Medicine at the distinguished program through the Department of Neurology at University of South Florida. He has also gained valuable experience working at Moffitt Cancer Center, Veterans Affairs, and Tampa General Hospital.
In order to stay up to date in his field, Dr. Omar remains an active member of several professional societies, including the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience, the North American Neuromodulation Society, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
Interventional pain management or interventional pain medicine is a medical subspecialty defined by the National Uniforms Claims Committee (NUCC) as, “ invasive interventions such as the discipline of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of pain related disorders principally with the application of interventional techniques in managing sub acute, chronic, persistent, and intractable pain, independently or in conjunction with other modalities of treatment.” Rather than just prescribing medication or only recommending physical therapy, an interventional pain management specialist utilizes all sources of treatment to eliminate pain in the fastest and most effective way possible for each individual patient.
As a testament to his success, Dr. Omar has been the recipient of the Chairman of the MEC Scholarship by Hackensack University Medical Center/St George’s University in 2012, and the Legacy Award by Rutgers University in 2009. He was also named a Top Doctor for 2022 by Best in Florida Magazine.
