Dr. Lydia Shedlofsky is a dermatologist practicing in Wilmington, NC. Dr. Shedlofsky is an energetic and empathic dermatologist that joined Summit Dermatology and Plastic Surgery in 2022. She trained at Honor Health in Arizona after completing her internship at Larkin Community Hospital in Miami, Florida. She is a native of Lexington, Kentucky and completed her undergraduate degree at Guilford College in North Carolina. After graduation she moved to Beira, Mozambique, Africa where she worked as a research assistant. She concomitantly earned a Masters in Medical Education and her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine form the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.

 

Her practice includes but is not limited to skin cancer detection, treatment and prevention.

Dr. “Shed” as we lovingly call her, is excited to return to her southern roots. She and her husband Andrew enjoy bird watching and antique car restoration.

A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Dr. Shed’s educational journey reflects her dedication to medicine. She earned her undergraduate degree from Guilford College in North Carolina before moving to Beira, Mozambique, where she worked as a research assistant. She subsequently obtained her master’s in medical education and her Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Shedlofsky completed her internship at Larkin Community Hospital in Miami and her dermatology residency at Honor Health in Arizona.

 

Dr. Shed is a Diplomate of both the American Board of Dermatology and the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology. She is board certified in both General Dermatology and Mohs Surgery. In addition, she is actively involved in numerous professional organizations, including the American Society of Mohs Surgery, the American Society of Dermatopathology, and the Skin of Color Society.

Beyond her clinical expertise, Dr. Shed is deeply committed to philanthropy, supporting skin cancer awareness through lectures at Hoggard High School, the Melanoma Research Foundation, and free skin cancer screenings. She advocates for cancer research with the American Cancer Society, mentors research publications, and aids animal welfare around the world. Through these efforts, she continues to make a lasting impact on her community.

Excited to return to her Southern roots, Dr. Shedlofsky credits her success to her strong support system and personal experiences as a cancer patient. Outside of her medical practice, she enjoys bird watching, her pups, and antique car restoration with her husband, Andrew.
