Get to know Medical Science Liaison, Jeffrey Rapp, who serves patients in Boca Raton, Florida.

Jeffrey is a medical science liaison at the Aker Kasten Eye Center, one of the leading cataract and laser vision practices in Boca Raton, Florida as well as the United States as a whole. His primary role is to provide patients with education, information, and guidance in the decision making process with regard to the elective nature of cataract surgery. 

Serving as Director of Patient Education and Intraocular Lens Selection, his duties and responsibilities include: contacting, educating, and advising new and returning patients (~2000 surgeries yearly) about the different surgical options and Intraocular lenses that are available for their given ocular anatomy and desired outcomes; first point of contact for all new incoming cataract consultation patients; maintaining records, preferences, and needs of patients for the reference of clinical and surgical staff; assisting surgeons with final patient consultation of IOL selection; coordinating with fellow surgical staff to ensure appropriate measurements and calculations of IOL selection; communicating regularly with intraocular lens and laser manufacturers with regard to current and new products and their applications to patients; and assisting surgeons with YAG laser procedures post cataract surgery.

The Aker Kasten Eye Center has been designated as a Center of Excellence for all aspects of medical eye care, and more specifically, laser cataract surgery. Services range from comprehensive vision care and sophisticated eye surgery to routine optometry – all delivered by a certified ophthalmologist or optometrist with the personal attention and compassionate care each patient deserves.

In regards to his educational background, Jeffrey graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree from Ithaca College in 2012. He then went on to earn his Master of Science degree from Springfield College in 2014, after which he completed his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Exercise Physiology at the said establishment in 2017. 

Through multiple contacts and a genuine desire to assist patients in creating the most optimal outcome, Jeffrey is an assistive tool used by patients to improve their surgical experience. 

His optimism, outgoing personality, and sincere advice are greatly welcomed by patients both over the phone and in person. During their selection of IOLs and surgical techniques, the primary focus will always be that the patients’ needs come first.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a specific role within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, CRO and other healthcare industries. They concentrate on specific therapeutic areas (e.g. oncology, cardiology, CNS, hematology, women’s health care) and disease states (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular disease, diabetes).
