How tight should my post surgery bra be?
This all depends on your surgeon. Some surgeons don't want you to wear a bra at all. I personally do a medium support bra. You don't want the bra too tight as to not allow your implants to drop or displaced them too much. I would follow up with your plastic surgeon for an exact answer. Get to know Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Dr. Ashley J. Steinberg, who served patients in Bellaire, Texas.
Dr. Steinberg is a highly respected, double board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who runs Trouvaille Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery in Bellaire, Texas.
With great attention to detail and determination to provide the best care for her patients, she is happy to offer all aspects of plastic surgery – including aesthetics, general and breast reconstruction, and hand surgery. She currently takes calls around the city and works with various plastic surgery residents – continuing her dedication to education.
Her hospital affiliations include Houston Methodist Clear Lake Hospital and Houston Methodist West Hospital.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Steinberg moved around the country (and Canada) for different aspects of her education and medical training. Growing up in a family full of casino executives, her initial career instinct was in acting. However, at 16, she was given the amazing opportunity to shadow a plastic surgeon in Canada.
She was able to witness patient interactions and surgical procedures; the plastic surgeon even taught her how to suture on his down time. It was from that point she knew that this amazing field – one where you can fix, change, and mold almost any part of the body – was the one for her.
After attending University in London and Windsor, Ontario Canada, Dr. Steinberg headed to St. George’s in Grenada where she completed two years of basic science classes. The remaining two years of medical school were spent between Brooklyn and South Florida, spending time in various hospitals on clinical rotations, including plastic surgery.
After graduating from SGU Magna Cum Laude, she matched in Brooklyn, New York into a general surgery residency – where she spent whatever time she could scrubbing in with the two plastic surgeons who she was privileged to work with. Upon transferring to the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine – she was able to spend time rotating in plastic surgery with the late, great Dr. William Zamboni.
There, she was also able to address patients of all backgrounds with varying needs in many specialties, including pediatric surgery, trauma surgery, and oncologic surgery.
Dr. Steinberg’s quest for continued education took her to the largest medical center in the world – the Houston Medical Center – where she completed three more years of training in plastic surgery with some of the best plastic surgeons in the world at the esteemed Houston Methodist Hospital. She was lucky to train with leading experts in microsurgery, aesthetics, craniofacial, and hand surgery. The time she spent in the medical center solidified her love for plastic surgery, but also created a new one – a love of Texas, and Houston in particular – and she decided to start her practice there.
Ensuring superior care with outstanding results, Dr. Steinberg is a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification, and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.
On a professional level, Dr. Steinberg is an active member of the Harris County Medical Society, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the Aesthetic Society.
Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. It can be divided into two main categories – reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. A plastic surgeon’s primary responsibility is performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, and they use a variety of reparative and reconstructive techniques to get the job done.
Attributing her success to good family support, Dr. Steinberg’s parents instilled in her a great work ethic. Her dedication to patient care and advances in the field of plastic surgery have earned her many accolades, inclusion in peer-reviewed publications and professional conference invitations.
When she is not spending her time operating or seeing patients in the office, Dr. Steinberg likes to spend her free time participating in Orangetheory, yoga, and indoor climbing. Traveling the world is one of her main goals – behind being the best plastic surgeon to her patients.
