He specializes in colon cancer prevention, screening and adenoma detection, acute and chronic liver disease – including cirrhosis of the liver, pre- and post-liver transplant management, fatty liver disease and NASH, as well as esophageal disorders, acid reflux, and irritable bowel disease.
Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Rodriguez graduated with his medical degree from the Central University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in 2002. He then went on to perform his internship at the National Naval Medical Center, and his residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. He also completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, and a fellowship in transplant hepatology at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville.
In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in gastroenterology, internal medicine, and transplant hepatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Furthermore, he is board-certified in obesity medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM). The ABOM is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, self-appointed physician-evaluation organization that certifies physicians practicing obesity medicine.
After 20 years of service, Dr. Rodriguez is retired from the U.S. Navy.
