Get to know Endocrine Surgeon Dr. Mohamad Sidani, who serves patients in Lubbock, Texas.

A specialist in endocrine surgery, Dr. Sidani serves as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He has expertise and specialization in a wide range of conditions, including thyroid cancer, Graves’ disease, thyroid goiter, thyroid nodules, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, hypercalcemia, hyperparathyroidism, parathyroid adenoma, parathyroid hyperplasia, parathyroid cancer, adrenal masses, adrenal adenomas, Cushing syndrome, and more.

With a broad educational background, he earned his medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon in June 2013. He completed his fellowship in endocrine surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in 2022. Prior to that, he completed his preliminary internship and PGY2 at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a categorical residency in general surgery at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, where he graduated in 2021.

An authority in his field, the doctor is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Remaining up to date in his field, Dr. Sidani is an active member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, the American Thyroid Association, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, the Endocrine Society, and the Texas Endocrine Surgical Society. He is also certified in ATLS, ACLS, BLS, and ASSET and holds a Head and Neck Ultrasound Certification from the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons.

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrine surgery is a surgical subspecialty focusing on surgery of the endocrine glands, including the thyroid gland, the parathyroid glands, the adrenal glands, glands of the endocrine pancreas, and some neuroendocrine glands. As an endocrine surgeon, Dr. Sidani provides quality surgical service for gravely ill or injured patients and is able to respond quickly due to his extensive knowledge of various surgical procedures.

Among his various accolades, Dr. Sidani has been recognized for his outstanding teaching abilities, receiving the Excellence in Teaching Award from the Dean of Medicine at Oklahoma University in 2018, 2019, 2020, and 2021. In 2020, he was also named a Gold Humanism Honor Member by the Gold Humanism Honor Society and was awarded the Outstanding General Surgery Resident of the Year by the Department of General Surgery at Oklahoma University.

Speaking several languages, he is fluent in English, Arabic, and French. When asked about the secret to his success, he credits his mentors and his family. In his free time, he enjoys vacationing with his wife, spending time with his 2 dogs and engaging in hobbies such as cooking, gardening, playing music, and painting.
