How can I control my anger outbursts?
You first need to identify the underlying emotions driving the anger. Anger is like an iceberg and often times its easier and less vulnerable to express anger compared to the emotion that is truly underneath it. So for example, perhaps you are actually embarrassed that a mistake was made and you react in anger instead, as its less vulnerable than admitting fault. I would start with finding the other emotional forces that are also going along with your anger. READ MORE
Is therapy effective for aggression?
Absolutely! Anger typically stems from internal issues that therapy and counseling can effectively help you identify and then work on. Oftentimes there may even be a more vulnerable emotion that we suppress beneath our anger because anger almost makes us feel strong and/or is a less vulnerable emotion to display. READ MORE

“I implement effective counseling methods to instill self-awareness among patients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. It is essential to keep in mind that counseling is not a magic pill or a quick fix: counseling is a healing process that necessitates participation and investment from the patient and caretaker alike. But in the end, making small changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with feelings of sadness, fear, and pain can bring life-altering results” expressed Michael.
Academically, he earned his Master of Science degree (MS) and Specialists in School Psychology degree (SSP) from Barry University. During his graduate education, he completed a variety of training experiences including working in the university’s mental health clinic (CARE Center) where he provided counseling services and psychoeducational evaluations to children.
Trained in a variety of counseling styles, Michael completed practicum experience with the Broward County School District and internship experience with Collier County Public Schools. He then completed directed research at Barry University titled ‘Concussion Training: A Need for Teachers and Parents’, which focused on the symptoms of concussion, its impact on learning, and teacher/parent comfortability levels with the identification of concussions and the implementation of strategies.
In both the private and public sector, Michael has worked extensively with school-aged students, helping them to achieve their personal best. He strives to help people learn to feel better, bring awareness to themselves, develop their strength of inner self, and to build lifetime resiliency.
Psychology is the science of behavior and mind. It includes the study of conscious and unconscious phenomena, as well as feeling and thought. It is an academic discipline of immense scope.
