Get to know Registered Nurse, Britni Powell, who serves patients in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Britni is a devoted registered nurse who serves as the Cardiovascular Program Manager at CHRISTUS Highland Medical Center. As such, she is responsible for ensuring that patients receive high-quality care, understand their physician’s instructions, and receive appropriate medication and referrals based on the American College of Cardiology Registry guidelines.

In regards to her educational background, she holds an active RN license and has earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, making her well-equipped to support patients’ wellbeing and outcomes from Cath Lab to Cardiac Surgery. 

An active member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, she is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, which is a testament to her dedication to improving processes and achieving the best possible outcomes for her patients.

On a more personal note, Britni credits God for her blessings and successes in her career. Additionally, she has worked with some great leaders who have taught her valuable lessons along the way. Her nursing career has been unique, and she believes that her opportunities have opened up through divine intervention.

A Registered Nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include leadership, research, performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.
