Formed in 2018 through the combination of East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System (ETMC) and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler (UT Health Northeast), UT Health East Texas provides care to thousands of patients each year through its extensive regional network of hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, freestanding emergency centers, urgent care facilities, and other locations. Expanding his expertise, he completed his internship and residency at Baylor University Medical Center, pursued a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Oklahoma, and furthered his specialization with an additional fellowship in interventional cardiology at Baylor University Medical Center.
Triple board certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and nuclear medicine, Dr. Smith is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
