An exceptional physiatrist, Dr. Bushi is an attending physician at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital’s esteemed brain injury program, and serves as an Assistant Professor at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. With a focus on providing comprehensive care to patients who have experienced brain injuries, including traumatic brain injury, stroke, tumor, and neurodegenerative processes, she is dedicated to maximizing patient wellness and function through an interdisciplinary approach.
With an impressive academic journey, she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The College of New Jersey in 2011 before embarking on her medical career at Rutgers-New Jersey Medical School (NJMS), where she obtained her medical degree in 2015.
Her pursuit of excellence continued with a preliminary year internship in internal medicine at Morristown Medical Center in 2016 and culminated in a physical medicine and rehabilitation residency at Rutgers-NJMS, where she served as Chief Resident during her final year. Her passion for her field led her to further specialize in brain injury medicine with a fellowship at the same institution in 2020.
Passionate about her profession, the doctor is board-certified in physical medicine & rehabilitation and brain injury medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R). This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.
Through her research, Dr. Bushi has been a driving force in addressing brain injury concerns within the aging population and exploring the experiences of caregivers of brain injury patients. Her dedication to education has led her to actively engage in training residents and fellows, while she continuously seeks evidence-based approaches to teaching and education. Her valuable contributions have been recognized by numerous peer-reviewed publications and national poster presentations.
