Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Sanjoy Sathpathy, who serves patients in San Diego, California.

An experienced interventional psychiatrist, Dr. Sathpathy is the CEO & President of So Cal Psychiatric Care in San Diego, California. He offers exceptional mental health diagnosis and treatment to children and adolescents all the way through adulthood and geriatric ages. 

Empowering each patient is of his highest concern and Dr. Sathpathy makes every effort to instill confidence and provide support through the healing process. He attempts to incorporate all the resources in the community to provide his patients with the best possible treatment and outcome. 

Leading a team of highly skilled professionals, Dr. Sathpathy delivers outstanding care to people affected by psychiatric disorders like anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder. He and his team also offer specialized services for children’s mental health issues, developmental disabilities, and behavioral disorders like attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Their compassionate care includes supporting parents and working with teachers to ensure children and adolescents enjoy optimal benefits from their treatment. 

For patients with treatment-resistant depression and other conditions that aren’t responding to medication and psychotherapy, So Cal Psychiatric Care offers transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). This painless, drug-free therapy can reduce symptoms even when other treatments are unsuccessful, offering hope without the risk of unpleasant side effects.

Graduating with his medical degree from Berhampur University in India, Dr. Sathpathy relocated to the United States to further his training. Once there, he performed his internship, residency, and fellowship at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in New York.

Board-certified in child & adolescent psychiatry, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

From an early age, Dr. Sathpathy’s parents encouraged his curiosity and inquisitiveness in humanity. This attracted him to the profession of psychiatry, which gave him the opportunity to make a positive impact on individuals. 

In practice since 2003, Dr. Sathpathy was the Chief of Staff & Clinical Director of Child In-Patient Services at Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital, before going into private practice.

Continuously advancing his efforts, he is an active member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, and the San Diego Psychiatric Society.

Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. They conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, develop treatment plans, prescribe medication, and evaluate treatment results.

Outside of work, Dr. Sathpathy enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He also enjoys reading historical fiction and traveling. He speaks both English and Hindi.
