Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Joseph S. Thomas, who serves patients throughout the State of Illinois. A renowned obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Thomas has cared for more than 60,000 women since 1984. Today, he provides the latest medical and surgical care for women of all ages. He is known for his high degree of skill and expertise in minimally invasive urogynecologic and robotic surgery, and many area physicians send him their most complex cases. Being a South Side surgeon, Dr. Thomas is affiliated with Advocate South Suburban Hospital, Advocate Trinity Hospital, and UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital. Among his other roles, he is the Founder of Advanced Integrated Medical Therapy, a physician and surgeon in anti-aging and advanced metabolic rebalancing with Invitation to Wellness, the CEO of Restore 360- Holistic Wellness, Anti-Aging, as well as the Director of Bladder Wellness Connection. A 1979 graduate of the Howard University College of Medicine, Dr. Thomas went on to perform his internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Howard University Hospital. Furthering his education, he earned his Master of Business Administration degree (Executive Master’s Program) at Kellogg School of Management, and completed special training in mind/body medicine at Harvard University. Having demonstrated a commitment to providing quality healthcare, Dr. Thomas is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health. Preeminent in his respected field, Dr. Thomas is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG) and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). In addition, he is an active member of the American Urogynecologic Society, the National Medical Association, and the Chicago Gynecological Society. Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics and gynecology. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.
