Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Ryan Fahy, who serves patients in Bay City, Michigan.

Dr. Fahy is a general surgeon interested in robotics and trauma/critical care. He is in practice with McLaren Bay Region, a 415-bed acute care hospital providing specialty, primary and preventative care located in Bay City, Michigan.

His areas of expertise include robotic and laparoscopic surgery, simple and complex hernias, foregut, colorectal surgery, breast surgery, endocrine surgery, skin and soft tissue, and endoscopy. 

A native of Chicago, Dr. Fahy received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biology/Pre-Medical Studies from Loyola University Chicago in 2009. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2018.

From July 2020 – July 2023, he served as a resident in general surgery with McLaren Greater Lansing, after which he was employed at McLaren Bay Region.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.

Outside of practicing medicine, Dr. Fahy loves playing ice hockey, golfing, hiking with his dog, doing crossfit, traveling, and being on or near water.
