Get to know Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Levi G. Calderon, who serves patients in the San Francisco Bay Area including San Jose, Oakland, and the surrounding cities.

Levi Calderon is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner who plays a crucial role in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery as a valued member of the Mechanical Circulatory Support/Heart and Lung Transplant Team at Stanford Healthcare. He specializes in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care, Levi is recognized for his expertise and commitment to advancing healthcare through patient-centered evidence-based practice.

He brings six years of invaluable experience as a Registered Nurse to his current role working on units such as Medical-Surgical, Step-Down, ICU, and Emergency Room. Pertaining to his educational pursuits, his journey reflects a strong foundation in healthcare and a commitment to continuous learning. He began at Houston Community College, earning his initial Associate degree in Nursing. He then pursued higher education at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he achieved both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.

Passionate about his profession, Levi is board-certified in Adult-Gerontology Acute Care by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, which is a certification body for nursing board certification and the largest certification body for advanced practice registered nurses in the United States, as of 2011 certifying over 75,000 APRNs, including nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists. He is also a member of multiple professional organizations including the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

Professionally, his clinical practicums took him to various healthcare settings, including Dallas, Waco, and a final practicum at the prestigious University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, situated at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. This comprehensive training under the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery laid the groundwork for his role on the Cardiothoracic Surgery team at Stanford Healthcare.

A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice registered nurse and a type of advanced practice provider. NPs are trained to assess, diagnose disease, order and interpret diagnostic imaging, laboratory tests, rehabilitative therapy, as well as formulate and prescribe treatment plans.
