Providing treatment for any foot condition ranging from minor aches to major deformities of the foot, Dr. Effrein is experienced in diagnosing and treating various pathologies, including bunions, hammertoes, plantar fasciitis, hyperhidrosis of the foot, painful metatarsal heads/fat pad atrophy, arthritis of the foot and ankle, brachymetatarsalgia (short toe), haglund’s deformity (pump bump), tendon and ligament tears and ruptures, posterior tibial tendon dysfunction, flat feet, high arches, custom orthotics, sports-related injuries, ankle, calcaneus, and midfoot fracture fixation, achilles tendon repair (open and minimally invasive), diabetic foot and ankle management and salvage, as well as wound care and limb salvage.
Throughout her academic career, Dr. Effrein received her Master of Science Degree in Anatomy at Des Moines University in 2015. Four years later, in 2019, she graduated with honors and was in the top five of her class from Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery.
In 2022, she successfully completed her residency in podiatric medicine and surgery with reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery at Detroit Medical Center. During her time there, Dr. Effrein served as chief resident and worked with over fifty physicians, alternating lower extremity trauma calls with orthopedic surgery every other week at a level two trauma center, as well as covering six different hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers.
Other rotations during her residency training included: orthopedic trauma surgery, infectious disease, internal medicine, vascular surgery, general surgery, and emergency medicine.
