Born in New Delhi, India, Dr. Chowdhary earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Degree from Kasturba Medical College in 2008. Upon relocating to the United States, he began his medical training as a postdoctoral research fellow at Yale School of Medicine from January 2010-June 2010, and as a PGY1 Preliminary Resident in Surgery at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut from 2010 to 2011. 

Dr. Chowdhary continued his residency there, progressing to PGY2 through PGY6 as a Categorical Resident in Surgery from July 2015 to June 2019. During his residency, he also served as a Visiting Resident in Thoracic Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York in July 2017, and as a Visiting Resident in Cardiac Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in September 2017. 

Following his residency, Dr. Chowdhary pursued further specialization, first as a Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellow at Rush University Medical Center from August 2019 to September 2021. He then continued his fellowship training as a Complex Aortic/Structural Heart Fellow at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. from October 2021 to July 2023.

Dr. Chowdhary has served on several esteemed academic committees at Saint Mary’s Hospital, including the Surgical Education Committee, the Surgical Site Infection Committee, the Trauma Performance Improvement Committee, and the Graduate Medical Education Committee.

His impressive qualifications include certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and Fundamental Critical Care Support (FCCS). Additionally, he actively participates as a member of both the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Haryana Medical Council.

Board certified in cardiothoracic surgery, Dr. Chowdhary is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS). The ABTS is an American surgical organization devoted to surgery of the chest.

Additionally, he was honored with a scholarship from the Sir Ratan Tata Trust for his outstanding academic performance during the same period.
