Renowned Veterinarian at All 4 Paws Veterinary Hospital Prioritizes Heart-Centered Medicine
Dr. Elise Brandwajn, affectionately known as Dr. B, stands out as a leading figure in the veterinary world, offering unparalleled care and compassion to her patients at All 4 Paws Veterinary Hospital in Suisun City, California. She leads her life and the hospital by a vision that can be well summarized by an excerpt from one of her favorite books growing up, The Little Prince by Antoine de St Exupery: “We only see well from the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eyes.”
Born in Paris, and having grown up in San Jose, Dr. B skipped a grade in her elementary school. Completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology with Honors and a pre-vet medical emphasis in a remarkable two years and two quarters at UC Santa Cruz, her commitment to excellence was evident early on.
Her hands-on experience since age 15 as a veterinary assistant in high-stress environments (her last position being an ICU tech at Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital) and subsequent Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine as a member of Phi Zeta honorary veterinary excellence society from the esteemed School of Veterinary Medicine at University of California, Davis, further honed her skills.
With a career spanning over 22 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, along with climbing to the level of medical director in several large practices prior to opening her own, Dr. B has garnered extensive experience in emergency and critical care, advanced medical therapies, and surgical interventions. Her areas of special interest include chemotherapy, ultrasound, internal medicine, surgery, geriatric care, and innovative pain management techniques such as class IV cold laser therapy. She also has a very strong commitment to pain management in animal health, which is often under recognized, and palliative medicine for end of life hospice care.
As the founder of All 4 Paws Veterinary Hospital in 2016, Dr. B’s primary motivation was to provide exceptional care to her patients and clients while upholding the highest standards of veterinary medicine. Her active involvement in professional organizations like the California Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Veterinary Medical Association, and Phi Zeta underscores her commitment to ongoing learning and growth in the field.
Beyond her professional achievements, Dr. B’s philanthropic efforts extend to organizations like Muttville and the All 4 Paws Angel Fund, reflecting her deep-rooted desire to give back to the community. She is also known for mentoring aspiring veterinarians who have gone on to excel in their careers, embodying her dedication to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Away from the hustle and bustle of her veterinary practice, Dr. B enjoys spending time with her spouse and four sons along with their eclectic menagerie of pets. Among her furry and feathered companions are fourdogs, four Maine coon rescue cats, two majestic Percheron mares named Athena and Justice, as well as two box turtles who have been with her and traveled with her moves since age 11!
Dr. B’s heart finds solace in the rhythm of the ocean and the warmth of sunny destinations. It is here that she refuels her spirit, ready to tackle the challenges of her demanding schedule with renewed energy.
Her professional interests are as diverse as her personal life, with a penchant for staying abreast of the latest developments in veterinary medicine. From the pages of the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association to the cutting-edge insights of Veterinary Business Practice, VETgirl, and VIN: Veterinary Information Network®, Inc., Dr. B is always seeking to expand her knowledge and expertise.
Her unwavering commitment to compassionate care has left an indelible mark on the lives of both animals and their devoted owners. Through her dedication to heart-centered medicine and her exceptional leadership, Dr. Elise Brandwajn has emerged as a true trailblazer in the veterinary community, embodying the essence of healthcare excellence in every aspect of her work.
