Dr Andre’a Watkins is a Psychiatrist who is board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology. She is a North Carolina native who moved to the DMV area for residency training. Dr Watkins graduated from Spelman College, magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Biology. She attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she obtained her Doctorate in Medicine and Master’s in Public Health. Dr Watkins completed residency training at the University of Maryland/Sheppard Pratt. Following residency, she has worked in a variety of treatment sectors including inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization. She is a thought leader in the field of quality improvement and has held several leadership positions to advance the growth of Behavioral Health Programs. Dr Watkins is the owner and CEO of Freedommind Wellcare and Consulting where she dedicates time for a small patient panel. Her current passion and interest includes the application of a whole person care approach to manage mental health. She believes that stress management, a balanced lifestyle, and a nutrient rich diet are essential tools in managing all disease states, including those related to mental health. Dr Watkins’ treatment approach includes empowering her clients to take ownership and develop a sense of agency as it relates to their health through educational tools, medication management, and psychotherapy.
