Ariella Soffer, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist licensed in NY, NJ and through PSYPACT (licensed to provide telehealth services in 42 states) who owns a group practice based in Midtown Manhattan (Columbus Circle) and Little Silver, New Jersey. She employs a blend of cognitive behavioral therapies, psychodynamic/relational and mindfulness based therapies to assist clients in overcoming a wide range of presenting concerns. Dr. Soffer works with individuals through the lifespan to address anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, eating and body image concerns, ADD, executive dysfunction, phobias, relationship concerns and life transitions. Dr. Soffer has a particular specialty in maternal mental health and parent consultation/coaching. Her practice provides psychotherapy and consultation for expectant, new and experienced parents and passionately supports women and families during the prenatal and postnatal periods. Another specialty in the practice is sport psychology; treating athletes through injuries and supporting athletes through mental aspects of their sport.
Additionally, Dr. Soffer was on faculty in the Clinical PhD Program at Fordham University, where she focused on supervision and training; Directing the Training Clinic and teaching graduate level courses. She also worked at Hunter College in the Counseling Center in various positions.

What is generalized anxiety disorder, and how is it treated?
Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) is a condition that is characterized by worry and rumination. Often, people who struggle with GAD find their worry uncontrollable and situations tend to feel more scary than is warranted by the event or scenario. Therapy that challenges the beliefs leading to an exaggerated sense of worry and helping to better identify and shift thoughts and behaviors can help reduce symptoms. - I think it is because of my passion for helping people and the way I really try to connect with my patients. It\'s rewarding helping people feel better and live better lives.
Areas of research
Dr. Soffer has been engaged in research surrounding coaching in youth sports and the impact of coaching, athletics broadly, and team environments on youth mental health. Throughout her career she has been involved with a variety of organizations to provide program evaluation with a focus on using data towards understanding the mental health climate on youth sport teams and making recommendations towards facilitating more emotionally balanced and mentally healthy team cultures.
Dr. Soffer has also been involved in researching suicide prevention on college campuses. She was awarded a SAMSHA grant while working at the Hunter College Counseling Center that was focused on suicide prevention, and collaborated with faculty to better understand predictors of suicide and preventative factors for early detection and effective intervention. She has also served on various dissertation committees as part of her clinical faculty role at Fordham.
