Celebrating Over a Decade of Commitment and Expertise in Fire and Emergency Medical Services

Dearborn, Michigan — February 2023 marked a significant milestone in the career of Justin J. Dunne, who was promoted to Firefighter II within the Dearborn Fire Department. With over ten years of experience in emergency medical services and firefighting, Justin has consistently demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and leadership in his role, earning him recognition as a vital member of the Dearborn Fire/EMS community.

Justin commenced his educational journey at Schoolcraft College, where he completed courses in Forcible Entry 1 & 2 and Elevator Rescue. He then honed his skills at Henry Ford Community College, focusing on Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and obtaining critical certifications, including Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS). Furthering his expertise, he earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Fire Science from Wayne County Community College, where he studied fire protection technology, fire service history, suppression, and National Incident Management System/Incident Command System (NIMS/ICS).

Beginning his career in March 2012 as a paramedic with Healthlink EMS, Justin quickly transitioned to the Redford Fire Department before joining the Dearborn Fire Department in September 2014. In his tenure at Dearborn, he has served as a firefighter/medic and tactical medic with TEMS, providing specialized medical support for over six years. His dedication to the community was recognized when he was promoted to Firefighter II, a testament to his expertise and commitment to public safety.

Justin’s extensive training has equipped him with certifications as an Incident Safety Officer (ISO), machine heavy rescue specialist, ice water rescue expert, and RECON Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) member. His contributions to safety and rescue operations have garnered multiple firefighter unit and fire chief commendations, as well as IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters) special recognition awards.

In addition to his firefighting duties, Justin plays a pivotal role in the department by co-founding the Peer Support Team and serving as an instructor for the Rescue Task Force (RTF) and Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC). His leadership extends beyond the call of duty, making him an invaluable asset to the Dearborn Fire Department.

On a personal note, Justin is multilingual, speaking English, German, and Gaelic, reflecting his diverse background and commitment to community engagement.
